I translate fiction, nonfiction, and children's literature from Finnish, German, and Swedish into English. I work with publishers, agents, authors, and cultural institutions. I'm particularly passionate about championing international children's literature, and I'm proud to be part of the team at WorldKidLit where we write about and review children's books from around the world.
EDUCATION I hold a Ph.D. in Scandinavian Studies from the University of Washington, Seattle, with a focus on Finnish literature and cultural studies. I am a 2017 graduate of the Finnish to English literary translation mentorship program organized by FILI, Finland's literary export agency. HONORS In 2021 I was awarded an honorable mention for the Nadia Christensen Prize for my translation excerpt from Finnish of Pirkko Saisio’s Punainen erokirja (The Red Book of Farewells) by the American Scandinavian Foundation. |
